About this event
Join Yodeah for a meaningful, hands-on program creating beautiful baby blankets to be donated to the NICU (Neonatal Intensive Care Unit). Participants will design and iron appliqués onto soft baby blankets, providing comfort and love to newborns in the NICU and their families. The program will also include a brief and informative presentation by Dr. Elizabeth Etkin-Kramer on Jewish hereditary genetic mutations—particularly the BRCA mutation—and why understanding this information can save lives. One in forty Ashkenazi Jews carries a BRCA gene mutation that can significantly increase the risk of cancer. Learn about BRCA and other cancer-related genetic mutations common in Ashkenazi Jews, and have the opportunity to order a low-cost, medical-grade saliva test. 20 Participants Learn and Get tested. It can save your life and the lives of your family members.  Captains: Dr. Elizabeth Etkin-Kramer and Adrienne Pardo Time: 10:00 am Location: Temple Beth Sholom Cost: $18 (covers the purchase of blankets and appliqués) - pay with registration Ages: adults (18+)
