About this event
Algebra I- Credit Recovery (Year Long/ 1 course credit recovery) The main goal of this course is to provide students with a thorough and extensive study of linear and quadratic functions and graphing on the xy-coordinate system. By the end of this course, students will have all of the knowledge necessary to solve and graph equations and inequalities. They will also be able to apply this knowledge to other areas of math, such as word problems, ratios, and proportions. Questions that will guide learning throughout the year include: How will students use the language of algebra — its vocabulary, symbols, and reasoning — to solve problems, describe relationships and patterns, and apply algebra to represent real-life situations, using algebraic, numerical, and graphical representations; how will students use critical and creative thinking to solve problems and acquire the algebraic foundation and skills necessary for Geometry and Algebra 2. Prerequisite: Pre-Algebra and teacher recommendation (you must get your current math teachers recommendation for this course) Advancement: Students will be placed in the next sequential NBPS Math course with successful completion of this course. This course meets an NBPS graduation requirement. The grade is included in the NBPS GPA.
