About this event
This is the opportunity for our middle school students to stretch their problem-solving skills. During math club, students will practice different strategies to solve distinct types of interesting and challenging problems. The goal of the club is to foment enjoyment of math, creative solutions and approaches to problem solving, as well as preparations for the different math contests. After registration is finalized and depending on the number of students and the grade/math levels, the club might be divided into two tracks to better prepare all students for the different math competitions available throughout the year. Registration and participation in math competitions will happen independently of club participation/registration. Any student, regardless of enrollment status in the math club, will be able to register for the different competitions and can be considered in the school team selection process to represent our school during team math competitions. The competitions available for all students are: No registration needed: ‡ Noetic (grades 6 and 7, the contest will be administered during class time ) Registration needed: ‡ MOEMS Division E (grade 6) ‡ MOEMS Division M (grades 6, 7, and 8) ‡ Math counts (grades 6, 7, and 8) ‡ Math Kangaroo (grades 6, 7, and 8) ‡ AMC 8 (grades 6, 7, and 8, recommended for students enrolled in Algebra I or above) ‡ AMC 10 A and B (grades 7, 8, 9, and 10, recommended for students enrolled in Algebra II or above) ‡ AMC 12 A (grades 8, 9, and 10, recommended for students enrolled in Precalculus B or above)
