About this event
Description
Discover Kintsugi, the ancient Japanese art of repairing broken pottery by highlighting its fractures with gold or silver, transforming damaged objects into works of art. In this hands-on workshop at Manhattan Beach Art Center, Shoshi Watanabe (Zakka Bakka) and Katherine Clark will teach a modern Kintsugi method using contemporary materials that make the process more accessible. Participants will explore the history, culture, and philosophy of Kintsugi while creating a beautifully restored ceramic piece to take home. All materials provided. Participants are encouraged to bring a ceramic item from home to repair. Cracked ceramic bowls will be provided for those who do not have a piece to bring.Activity Sub-Category
