About this event
Description
If you have received a cancer diagnosis, you know the emotional toll it can take on you. Research shows that if you learn to manage your stress and anxiety, you can improve your quality of life and become an active participant in your own recovery and survivorship. The Mindfulness-Based Cancer Recovery (MBCR) program is a therapeutic combination of mindfulness meditation, gentle movement, and simple practices that support a focus on living well. The program is based on scientific research and has been shown to improve a range of psychological and biological outcomes for cancer patients. Clinical guidelines published in 2024 for management of anxiety, depression, and fatigue in patients with cancer strongly recommend mindfulness-based programs like MBCR*.Over the course of the 8-week program, you will learn:A variety of mindfulness meditation practicesGentle movement practicesMindful coping strategiesMindbody perspectives on working with stress and anxietyPractices to cultivate beneficial states of heart and mind
NOTE: MBCR is open to all cancer patients and survivors. For each participant, one family member, friend, or care supporter can also participate free of charge.
Once you’ve registered, your receipt will show the code your family member, friend, or care supporter can use to register at no cost.
This program is subsidized by the generosity of donors to the Mindfulness Program. Space is limited.
