Ironman Louisville Boutique Weekend Training Camp

June 12 - 14, 2020

 

If you are racing 2020 Ironman Louisville this June 12 - 14, 2020 Boutique Style Ironman Louisville Weekend Training Camp is a must! Registration is limited so do not wait to register.

  • Low Athlete-to-Coach Ratios
  • Ride & Run will be done on the Ironman Louisville Course
  • Swim course will be analyzed both by video review & walking tour (no in water workout)

During the Weekend Camp Attendees will:

  • Ride 1 or 2-laps (approx. 35 - 70-miles) of the Ironman Louisville bike course loop
  • Ride will be led by a well-versed Louisville KY based USAT Certified Coach
  • Bike course will be analyzed in detail during Friday evening talk prior to ride
  • Run 1 (up to 8-miles) of the Ironman Louisville course including running to 4th Street Live Finishing area on Sunday morning.
  • Run Course will be analyzed in detail during Saturday afternoon talk
  • Swim course will be analyzedin detail during the Saturday afternoon talk AND Sunday via a guided walking tour of
    • o   Swim start
    • o   Swim out
    • o   To (the area where) changing tents

 

Homework

  • Following each day’s course viewing athlete will have the opportunity write their own course review, analysis and plan for course management on race day
  • Each athlete will have an opportunity to share their customized course strategy with the other camp participants.
  • All attendees will have free access to ALL course discussions and PowerPoint talks

Ironman Bike Course Group Ride & Ironman Run Course Expectations……

Ride Groups -

  • Groups of 6, 4-athletes + 1 Coach + 1 local athlete support
  • First group starts at 6:20 a.m.
  • Subsequent groups will depart in 10-minute intervals
  • Groups will leave together and stay together for entire course ride
  • 1 or 2-refueling stops during the ride (be advised to carry some $ for food/drink purchase
  • Rear Flashing Red light required - forward facing White flashing light recommended
  • Carry enough fluids for 2.5 – 3 hours of riding prior to refueling stop

Run Group –

  • Run will be supported by Coach carrying fluids on bike
  • Recommended each athlete bring Fuel belt or other run hydration system

Prior to each workout –

  • In-depth analysis of the course
  • Workout expectations, safety, emergency protocol, etc.

Following each workout –

  • there will be opportunity for post-workout Q & A

Pre-Camp Preparation –

  • Athlete must be prepared to change their own flat tires
  • Provide certification showing a bike service or inspection has been performed in the past 45-days
  • Be fit enough to comfortably ride 35 - 70 miles of rollling hills

Training Camp Schedule

  • Friday, June 12 –
    • 6:00 – 8:30 p.m. - Bike Course Overview, Ride Strategy & Review of Course Ride Policies, Safety Plan & Expectations
  • Saturday, June 13 –
    • Sunrise/First Light (Sunrise = 6:20 a.m.) - Bike course ride: One or two laps of the IRONMAN Louisville loop, with a certified coach leader, maximum 4 camp athletes + lead & support rider per group. NOTE: Subsequent Groups depart in 10 - 15 minute intervals. 1 or 2-refueling stops at about mile 30 & 60.
      • Transition run optional – “on your own”
    • 3:30 – 5:15 p.m. - Swim and Run Course Overview & Analysis + Athlete Bike course analysis, strategy and race day plan.
    • 6:30 – 8:30 p.m. - Cook-out at Coach Barry’s
  • Sunday, June 14 –
    • 8:00 a.m. - Run course training run: One lap run of the run course with a certified coach leader & 4 supported aid stations.
    • 11:00 a.m. – Meet at Swim Start for Swim course walk through (no in water swim). Review of the course including walk to swim out and then to where changing tents will be set-up.
    • 1:00 – 1:30 p.m. – Course Wrap-up

 

 

Friday & Saturday night dinner provided. All breakfasts & lunches + hotel room and related expenses will be at the course participants expense.

Cancellation Policy - Cancellations 30 days or more prior to the camp/clinic start date will be refunded 75% of the registration fee paid. No refunds for cancellations less than 20 days prior to the camp/clinic start date. Transfers to another camp/clinic in the same year are allowed for a fee of $75 provided the transfer is made at least 30 days prior to the camp/clinic start date. No transfers less than 30 days prior to the camp/clinic start date. No exceptions.
