Age Guidelines/Eligibility: Ages 6 to 8. 6 and 7-year-olds must have played one year of Rookie Division to be eligible.
Single A is a Coach/Kid pitch division designed to expand on the fundamentals learned in the Rookie Division. Players will alternate all positions on the field (unless a safety risk is of concern by the manager). Single A uses its own unique rules to keep the game going and to ensure equal playing time. A hardball is used for the first time in this Division.
Coaches pitch to the kids the first 1/3rd of season. Thereafter it will be Kid/Coach pitch the remainder of season. Single A builds on the basic concepts learned in the Rookie Division teaching and enhancing proper hitting, fielding, and base running techniques, including introduction of live pitching. Kids will learn the more basic rules of baseball in this division with three outs and three strikes.
Single A is highly recommended and required for all kids moving from Rookie to the A Division. 7 and 8-year-olds will benefit by developing and enhancing skills sets in this Division they otherwise may not by moving straight to AA. The relative ease of transition into kid pitch is very valuable here. This is a great Division for young players to grow.
Single A plays one game on Saturdays and one game during the week. Each team will hold 1-2 practices per week (day of the week TBD). Each player will receive a jersey and hat as part of the registration fee.
To volunteer to manage or coach a team, select Yes to the volunteer option when you register your child and fill out the volunteer form that will appear in the registration process.
