In this 8-week class, students create a new handmade gift every week, each one tied to an occasion on the calendar, from Christmas cards to a Valentine’s keepsake. Led by two teachers, Ms. Gor and Ms. Kaur, students explore a different art technique each week and finish with gifts their families will actually keep and display. Along the way, students try mosaic art, doodle art, acrylic painting, stained glass-style art, clay, oil pastels, and DIY home decor, building creativity, fine-motor skills, and the joy of making something for someone they care about. Our Gift-Making Calendar: • 🎄 Week 1, Dec 3: Handmade Holiday Cards. Design festive cards with doodles and pastel details, ready to send in time for Christmas. • 🔔 Week 2, Dec 10: Stained Glass Suncatcher Ornaments. Make a glowing ornament for the tree or the window. • ❄️ Week 3, Dec 17: Winter Scene. Create a winter landscape in oil pastels to give to family before the break. • 🏡 Week 4, Jan 7: DIY Home Decor. Start the New Year with a handmade decor piece to brighten a room at home. • 🍎 Week 5, Jan 14: Teacher Thank-You Gift. Create a mosaic pencil cup or coaster, just in time for International Day of Education on Jan 24. • 🤗 Week 6, Jan 21: Send a Hug. Celebrate National Hugging Day with a doodle art card or framed piece to give to someone special that very evening. • 💝 Week 7, Jan 28: Valentine’s Heart Dish, Part One. Shape a heart-shaped trinket dish from air-dry clay and let it dry. • 🎨 Week 8, Feb 4: Valentine’s Heart Dish, Part Two. Paint and finish the dish with acrylics, a keepsake gift ready before Valentine’s Day.
