About this event
Chess is one of the oldest sports dating back to 600AD and was recognized as an Olympic sport by the International Olympic Committee in the year 1999. For education, it holds many benefits like helping students to focus, visualize, analyze, strategize, evaluate, multitask, and think abstractly. Skills that chess players also learn include; inductive and deductive reasoning, prediction, systems thinking, and enhanced memory. It is safe to say that playing chess can improve your child’s intelligence, and the best part is that it is fun. ChessCats will use lichess.org for training and tournament play so it is important that each participant has a free lichess account. New this year, we have a physical/virtual chess training board called ChessUp where players can use physical pieces to play virtually. We will be training both online and on boards so it is important that your child bring a laptop. There are no other materials necessary for this course.
