In this hands-on space exploration class, students will look up, wonder big, and learn what we can see beyond Earth. They will explore stars, constellations, the sun, the moon, planets, comets, satellites, astronauts, rockets, and the many ways humans study space. Students will discover that space is enormous, the sun is a star, planets orbit the sun, the moon reflects sunlight, and stars can form patterns in the night sky. Through creative projects and simple models, they will make constellation viewers, mini galaxy jars, moon phase models, solar system projects, comets, satellites, rockets, and more. Along the way, students will ask their own space questions, investigate astronomy images, build models, experiment with light and motion, and think about how people explore and study space from Earth and beyond. The final project will be a Space Exploration Museum, where students create exhibits showing what they have learned and present their museum to parents. This class is perfect for curious students who love planets, rockets, stars, astronauts, and big questions about the universe.
