Description

Using the foundations of the Tiffany copper foil method during hands-on instruction, create stained glass artwork by designing patterns, cutting, soldering, and foiling. All levels.
** Soldering irons, glass cutters, grozers, pliers, and other tools will be provided for in-class and open studio use.
OPEN STUDIO TIME: While enrolled in a 6-week program at the LCAC, participants may use the program’s studio during non-instructional hours of operations.
Participants do not need all items on this list for the first day of class. Items participants will need on the first day of class are as follows:• drywall board (24 in x 24 in)• Morton strips• Pins• glass specific to their chosen pattern• at least 2 copies of their pattern. The front desk at the LCAC can help you make copies if needed.
**The first day of class will begin with a demonstration on how to use all the tools, and glass will be provided to practice cutting. If you do not have all your supplies, you will still have plenty to do.• For beginners, it is recommended that your first piece be no larger than 12” x 12” and consist of 25 cut pieces or less. Project designs can be found online.• Be sure to get a board that is large enough for future projects!• 24 in x 24 in drywall board will be the base for your glass project (This is your working space for building, cutting and soldering) can be purchased at Lowes or Home Depot.Glass• 3mm is the standard thickness for glass (size will vary from piece to piece)• Chosen glass should be specific to project typeOther Supplies Needed• 60/40 Solder• Elmer’s Glue Stick• 7/32 Black-Backed Copper Foil• Sharpie marker (Black and Silver)• Morton 6” Layout Block System with pins• Brass Handy Hangers (Only necessary when making a framed piece)• Painter’s tape (good to have on hand)• Zinc Framing (Comes in 6 ft sticks)• Scissors
The following items will be available for use in the studio during class time and in Open Studio hours:• Soldering irons• Oil glass cutters• Grozers• Runners• Patina• Polish for finishing your pieces
