Note: Rescheduled to May 24th.This talk focuses on the little known story of the vital role Black sailors’ played in the Union Navy in its successful effort to help win the Civil War. The talk covers the amazing gains that Blacks made in becoming a large and essential part of the Union Navy’s ranks, and their heroic exploits in furthering the Union’s cause.
