About this event
Attention FarmSted volunteers, urban agriculture students and all Edsmen! Want to travel to southeastern Puerto Rico, where you’ll explore the connections between farming, the environment, and social justice? Your days will be spent working alongside local farmers, collaborating with Puerto Rican students, and meeting people at the forefront of the island’s food sovereignty movement. Through these experiences, you’ll discover firsthand how sustainable agriculture can strengthen both communities and ecosystems. And there’s plenty to experience beyond the farms! Immerse yourself in Puerto Rico’s vibrant culture through hands-on workshops and activities, including cacao processing, medicinal plant use, salsa dancing, and environmental art. Feeling adventurous? You’ll also have opportunities to explore the island’s incredible natural environment and experience the culture, food, and landscapes that make Puerto Rico unique. Ready to get your hands dirty, make meaningful connections, and experience Puerto Rico beyond the typical tourist trail? Join us for an unforgettable week of farming, culture, community, and adventure! ...................................................................... Eligibility to participate is subject to positive teacher feedback and the student's academic and behavioral standing, as evaluated by the Deans and the Director of International Programs.
