Overshot Weaving with Susan Sebring May 12 11:00-3:00 May 15 11:00-2:00 May 19, 26, June 2 11:00-1:30 June 29 11:00-1:30 Overshot is a derivative of twill that provides an astounding variety of patterning on only four shafts. It was a very common weave in colonial times for the home weaver who usually possessed a four-harness loom. Many traditional drafts have been passed down and are still used today. In this four-week course the students will learn how to design, draft and weave an Overshot project such as a wall hanging, a table runner or a project of their choice. Students will be free to use the studio to work on their projects during the four weeks. Soon after college she bought a floor loom and continued to weave at home. Overshot became one of the first weaving discipline that she embraced, much to the enrichment of her friends, who now own Overshot coverlets, wall hangings and table runners.
