About this event

We're sorry, but this activity is over. The last meeting was Friday, August 27, 2021.

On this new tour of Los Angeles, our professional step-on guide, Curt, a history buff with an expertise on the evolution of Los Angeles and especially loved by our guests for his charismatic personality, provides a fascinating perspective of L.A. -- from its birth to the latest developments. While Los Angeles is less than 180 years old, in that short time, a great deal has been built, and much has been torn down. Like most cities, it has suffered the loss of classic old cinemas, Victorian hotels, and grand railroad stations, but recently L.A. has seen an amazing rebirth of original ideas in its art and architecture, and a concerted effort to bring back classic venues that have long been forgotten. On this unique tour, we'll see how Los Angeles has transformed from a tiny pueblo into a sprawling metropolis that is still developing at an incredible pace. We'll begin in L.A.'s downtown historic core where it all began. Between its most historic buildings is a progressing cultural renaissance and building boom -- in fact it's the largest in over a century and has to be seen to be believed! See the latest developments in the Civic Center area, including the $340 million federal courthouse and the $437 million police headquarters -- all part of a multi-year Civic Center Master Plan. See the latest murals and newest developments in the burgeoning Arts District -- one of the 'hottest' new neighborhoods in the downtown core. What once looked like a warehouse wasteland has become a beautiful, burgeoning hub for L.A.'s young, professional and creative. See the latest developments near the Staples Center before we continue to Dodger Stadium, the "Taj Mahal of Baseball," which opened in the hills above Los Angeles in April of 1962. And just like the real Taj Mahal, turns out the architects forgot to include drinking fountains -- in fact, this oversight followed Dodgers owner Walter O'Malley to his grave, earning mention in his obituary 17 ears later. In Exposition Park, we'll see the historic Los Angeles Coliseum, as well as the Banc of California Stadium, home of the Los Angeles Football Club (LAFC). This privately financed, $350 million , 22,000 seat soccer-specific stadium is the most expensive in U.S. history. But that's just the beginning -- you won't believe your eyes when we see the new SoFi Stadium, home to the NFL's Rams and Chargers. Built at a cost $5.5 billion, it's the most expensive stadium ever built in the world! The stadium is the vision of Rams owner Stan Kroenke, who wanted an arena that celebrates Southern California and the indoor-outdoor lifestyle its residents enjoy. Enjoy lunch on your own at Phillipe The Original -- the L.A. icon that is known as the inventor of the French dip. Note: tour has limited walking as it is mostly a driving tour with stops at each location. We do not tour inside the stadiums. Price includes tour director, step-on guide and driver gratuity. Departs from La Bonita Park.

Traveler should arrive 15 minutes prior to departure time.
