About this event
Sgraffito (in Italian "to scratch") is a decorating pottery technique produced by applying layers of color or colors (underglazes or colored slips) to leather hard pottery and then scratching off parts of the layer(s) to create contrasting images, patterns and texture and reveal the clay color underneath. Lessons include hand-building techniques. This class meets on Wednesdays for 3 sessions. No class May 20, 2026 Materials Fee: $50, payable to instructor by cash or check. Pam Hansen is a ceramic artist and educator with over 25 years’ experience, trained by masters in a Connecticut pottery co-op, specializing in functional pottery, sgraffito, and cultivating skilled, expressive student artists.
