Whether you are a beginner or advanced painter, this class will help you create four canvas placemats using the traditional process of floor cloth construction. We will begin by exploring the methods of painting with acrylics. Then you will work on designing your one-of-a-kind placemats. Come with a design idea or explore possibilities in class! Supplies needed: a variety of sized brushes for acrylic painting. This class meets on Thursdays for 4 sessions. Materials fee: $20, payable to the instructor by cash or check. Jean Schwab paintings are inspired by the natural surroundings of the Seacoast Area. She paints in mixed media and handcrafts floor cloths in the traditional manner with some modern additions. She is a member of the York Art Association. Her work has been shown at Just Us Chickens in Kittery, Sarah Orne Jewett House in South Berwick, and at the Dover Chamber of Commerce. One of her pieces is part of a collaborative poster on display at several Dover bus shelters as part of the Dover ArtStop program.
