About this event
Everyone knows who Sir Ernest Shackleton or Amelia Earhart were, but there are many adventurers whose accomplishments rival those of the most celebrated explorers most people have never heard of . This historical survey course recounts the true but little-known stories of these extraordinary men and women who once made world headlines but have virtually disappeared from the historical record. Driven by a combination of fortune, wanderlust, and an insane desire to achieve the impossible, they accomplished something truly extraordinary, the lessons of which remain relevant today. This course is taught in-person and will be lavishly illustrated with photos and archival film clips.
