This class will get you past the plateau in your guitar or ukulele playing and make many things easier. Learn what notes are in the most common chords and scales, and which notes can make your music sound bluesy, suspenseful, or mellow. Learn about the circle of fifths as a way to memorize chord progressions, and learn how to transpose music (change key). This is a thinking and pencil-and-paper class, not a hands-on class. Unlike traditional music theory classes, we focus on the fretboard rather than the piano keyboard, and knowledge of standard music notation is not required. This class is generously discounted by the Haddie Fund of the Marin Community Foundation.
