About this event

Celebrate the history of the motion picture industry in America over the last one hundred years through its most popular genres - Comedy (Slapstick/Screwball/Romantic), Horror, Western, Gangster/Noir/Crime, Science Fiction, and The Rise of the Auteur in the 1970s. Each class will examine the masterworks and filmmakers of these genres, highlighting the artistic, commercial, technical and cultural impact and importance of the films as well as their historical context. *Note: Films will NOT be screened. Lists of representative films from each period/genre will be provided as per topic to discover/enjoy at your leisure. Follow-up discussions are encouraged! Steven was educated at Syracuse and NYU and spent a career in Film and TV beginning with production work on Die Hard with a Vengeance through The Museum of Television & Radio, NBC, HBO, and World Wrestling Entertainment.
