Description

The UMKC Trumpet Festival is a one-day event full of masterclasses and performances from guest artists. The guests this year include Wiff Rudd, Ashley Hall-Tighe with Ana Maria Otamendi, and the trumpet section from Kansas City Symphony (Julian Kaplan, Omri Barak, and Shea Kelsay). This event is made possible in part by the Muriel McBrien Kauffman Family Foundation and the International Trumpet Guild.

Registration Requirements: Event is open to all collegiate levels (undergrad - graduate) and professionals.
Required Materials: Participants should bring their personal instrument.
Location: All events will take place in White Recital Hall in the Olson Performing Arts Center on the UMKC campus.
Event Schedule (Saturday, Feb 28, 2026)

• 8:00am: Registration (lobby of James C. Olson Performing Arts Center)
• 8:30am: Warm up with Dr. Vangjel
• 10:00am: Ashley Hall-Tighe Masterclass
• 11:15am: Break (visit exhibits)
• 11:30am - Wiff Rudd Recital with Karen Savage
• 12:30pm: Break for Lunch (not provided)
• 1:30pm: Dedicated Exhibit Hour
• 2:30pm: Kansas City Symphony Trumpet Section Session
• 3:30pm: Break
• 3:45pm: Wiff Rudd Masterclass
• 5:15pm: Ashley Hall-Tighe and Ana Maria Otamendi Recital
