Description
UMKC Conservatory Flute Day is an afternoon-long celebration of flute performance and learning featuring guest artist Christina Jennings, an internationally recognized flutist and professor celebrated for her commanding technique, luminous tone and deeply engaging musical presence. Known for her versatility as a soloist, chamber musician and educator, Jennings brings a career shaped by concerto appearances, premieres of new works and a passion for mentoring the next generation of artists. The event includes a group warm-up led by UMKC Conservatory Flute Professor Dr. Terri Sánchez, two performances of Flute Theater by the UMKC Conservatory Flute Ensemble, a workshop led by Jennings, a recital with collaborative pianist Dan Velicer and a concluding masterclass with UMKC flutists. Designed for students, educators and community musicians, the day highlights artistry, inspiration and shared musical experience in Grant Hall.
Event is open to all musicians. Any participant under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult at all times.
