Southern Crescent Sexual Assault and Child Advocacy Center (SCSAC-CAC) opened its doors in 1994, as Clayton Rape Crisis Center, to provide much needed services to survivors of sexual assault in Clayton, Fayette, and Henry counties. This grassroots collaborative effort involved law enforcement, social service agencies, medical professionals, school personnel, court personnel, as well as a handful of dedicated volunteers. It is the mission of SCSAC-CAC to provide a collaborative, coordinated community response in an effort to reduce the incidence of child maltreatment and sexual violence through prevention, intervention, and education. It is our vision to live in a society free from sexual violence and child abuse. Originally, the Center’s services consisted of crisis intervention, police accompaniment, hospital accompaniment, and court advocacy. These services were available to all victims of sexual assault regardless of the pursuit of prosecution. The Center was staffed completely by volunteers until August of 1995 when the Clayton County District Attorney’s Office provided funding for a full-time Program Director. In October of 2000, SCSAC became an independent non-profit organization. Recognizing the vast needs of child victims of sexual and physical abuse, SCSAC added Child Advocacy Services to our core services in 2012 and became SCSAC-CAC. Today, SCSAC-CAC, a dual sexual assault and child advocacy center, operates two offices located in: Hampton, GA and Jonesboro, GA. Our 8 county service areas includes: Butts, Clayton, Fayette, Henry, Lamar, Pike, Spalding, and Upson counties. It is the mission of Southern Crescent Sexual Assault and Child Advocacy Center to provide a collaborative, coordinated community response in an effort to reduce the incidence of child maltreatment and sexual violence through prevention, intervention, and education. It is our vision to live in a society free from sexual violence and child abuse. Over the past 32 years, our services have expanded to include: • Sexual Assault and Child Advocacy Programs and Services • 24-Hour Crisis Line • 24-Hour Trauma Informed Care • Forensic Medical Examinations and Evidence Collection • Forensic Interviewing • Victim and Family Advocacy • Medical Accompaniment • Individual and Family Counseling • Education and Awareness Programming for children, youth, and adults. • Trainings, Symposiums, and Professional Development Workshops for area professionals • Resource Referral Network Southern Crescent Sexual Assault and Child Advocacy Center NEVER denies services to anyone in need, regardless of residency, race, color, religion, creed, national origin, socioeconomic status, sexual orientation, gender identity, age, disability, or veteran status. All of our services are provided free of charge to survivors, their non-offending family members, and the communities we serve. SCSAC-CAC holds national accreditation through the National Children’s Alliance, a Certified Sexual Assault Center, Certified Child Advocacy Center, and a Certified Human Trafficking Victim Assistance Organization through the Georgia Criminal Justice Coordinating Council. Event details and schedule
The 5K run/walk begins at 9:00 a.m. (you get to sleep in a little longer!) at our new "race home", the Clayton County International Park.
Awards to the Overall Male & Female winner, the Overall Male & Female Masters and the top 3 male and female finishers in the following age groups: 10 & under, 11-14, 15-19, 20-29,30-39,40-49,50-59,60-69, 70 & over.
