About this event
This one-day workshop focuses entirely on the safe and effective use of the miter saw. Students will learn how the tool functions, how to operate it safely, and how to make accurate, repeatable cuts using a variety of techniques. Topics include: Miter saw anatomy and terminology Differences between saw styles and blade types Safe setup and body positioning Material support and shop workflow Basic crosscuts, miters, bevels, and compound cuts Reading and understanding saw scales and detents Calibration and troubleshooting Blade changing and maintenance Improving cut quality and reducing tear-out Measuring and cutting for repeatability Safe handling of small parts and long stock Students will spend the majority of the class actively cutting material and practicing techniques while building components for a small take-home project. The class will focus on practical experience. While practicing, students will be cutting the parts and pieces for a small take home project. Students under 18 may attend with parental permission.
