This class will introduce staked joinery in the form of a hearth stool - a handy piece of furniture that will find dozens of uses around your house. Our stools will come together over two days as we learn to use hand tools like drawknives and spokeshaves to shape parts, then assemble the legs to the seat with wedged tenons. We will explore some decorative carving and finishing options, and everyone will leave with a stool that reflects all the new skills learned over the weekend. Whether you are an experienced woodworker looking for new techniques to try, or just want to spend a weekend being creative in community with others, this workshop is for you. Students will build their choice of a 3 or 4-legged stool, 14-18” tall using primarily hand tools.  Students under 18 may attend with parental permission.
