This course focuses on the fundamentals of stick framing as applied to a ground-up shed build. Students will learn how to read and interpret basic plans, lay out a structure, and execute each stage of framing with accuracy and intention. Over five days, we will cover floor framing, wall layout and assembly, window and door openings, and roof framing. Emphasis will be placed on safe tool use, material handling, layout techniques, and understanding how loads transfer through a structure. Students will work collaboratively to build a shed that will serve as long-term storage for tools and materials, directly supporting the functionality of our shop space. In this course, we are building a shed for the Hammerstone shop. By the end of the week, the goal is to have the floor system built, the walls raised, and the roof framed. This structure will live in our back parking lot and be used for long-term storage of sawhorses, tools, and materials, helping to open up our shop space for classes. Students under 18 may attend with parental permission.
