About this event

Description

This video course presents western art from the ancient world to the present, exploring many artists and traditions. Organized around themes, rather than chronologically, individual lectures provide comparisons across time: for instance, the portraiture of Jan van Eyck and Andrew Wyeth, the mass produced art of Albrecht Durer and Andy Warhol, the textile art of the Bayeux Tapestry and Judy Chicago. The course delves into elements such as color, perspective and illusion, and symbols and symbolism. Attendees will also meet artists they may not have heard of. For those who took the course Lost Art, you will recognize our lecturer, Noah Charney. It promises to be a fascinating journey. Facilitator: Beth Stence
