About this event

Description

The risk of Alzheimer's Disease and related types of dementia doubles every five years for populations over 65 years of age. We also now know that the biology of dementia starts in our brains around two to three decades before we notice cognitive decline. Thinking about brain health applies to everyone. Professor Michelle Voss, director of the University of Iowa’s Health, Brain, and Cognition (HBC) Lab is coming to share her research on how health and health behaviors can sustain thinking and memory by slowing brain aging. Her goal is to inform how we can keep our mind and brain in shape to stay active with our families and our communities throughout life. She will also share how her lab is engaging with the community with more extended classes and experiences to inspire lifestyle changes for brain healthy living. The presentation will conclude with a Q&A session. This program is presented in partnership with TRAIL of Johnson County.
