Description
Steel Art Workshop: Twisting!
Twist steel at 2000 degrees! We'll discuss the fundamental aspects of metal forging with up close demonstrations. Then you'll go full hands-on heating and twisting various pieces of steel. We'll start by creating twisted bottle openers and wrap by creating a twisted steel basket.
We will cover the fundamentals of safe and successful steel heating, temperature gauging, metal bending and twisting techniques. We will cover forge operation, power and manual hand tools for finishes. Join us for a greater understanding and appreciation of metal arts.
Materials, tools, and safety gear will be provided.There may be a 30-minute break, mid-class, as needed.
Students must wear cotton shirt, pants, and closed toe shoes.
No sandals, shorts, or synthetics.
Students must have full vision capabilities, gripping strength with both hands, and adequate hand-eye coordination.
