For experienced and beginning birders alike, the Christmas Bird Count is one of the longest running citizen science projects in the country! Join the Eagle Creek CBC teams, sponsored by the Amos Butler Audubon Society, to count all the birds in the Eagle Creek Valley. This year the count will be held on Sunday December 21, 8:00 am – 12:00 pm with a pitch-in lunch for all participants at the Ornithology Center 12:00 – 1:00 pm.
To participate, please reach out to the count coordinator, Aidan Rominger, by December 1st so birding teams can be formed and count plans made in advance. Call the Ornithology Center at (317) 327-2473, or email aidan.rominger@indy.gov.
If you are a beginning birder, you may be able to join a group that includes at least one experienced birdwatcher. In addition, if your home is within the boundaries of the count circle, you can report the birds that visit your feeder once you have arranged to do so with the count compiler. Or join another area's count here. Happy birding!
