Discover the beauty and versatility of ink painting in this engaging class designed for artists of all skill levels. Using a single ink color, students will create a striking monochromatic artwork while exploring value, contrast, and expressive mark-making. Learn how to dilute ink with water to achieve a full range of light and dark tones, use masking fluid to preserve brilliant highlights, and add optional metallic inks for a touch of shimmer. Students will practice creating value scales, applying smooth ink washes with a paintbrush, and adding fine details with a calligraphy pen. Throughout the class, you'll experiment with a variety of techniques that bring depth, texture, and dimension to your work. When weather permits, this class will be held outdoors to take inspiration from the surrounding landscape. In the event of inclement weather, class will meet indoors.
