Build confidence and develop your drawing skills in this four-week class designed for adults of all experience levels. Whether you're new to drawing or looking to refresh your skills, this course provides a supportive environment to explore the fundamentals while growing as an artist. Through guided instruction and hands-on practice, students will learn essential drawing techniques including line, value, shading, perspective, proportion, and composition. Lessons will include an introduction to perspective and composition, still life setup and drawing, a “blurry to sharp” shading exercise to practice creating depth and value, and the grid method for developing accurate portrait drawings. Working with graphite, charcoal, and other drawing materials, participants will explore classical approaches to observation while creating artwork inspired by still life, portraiture, and other subjects. Each session encourages personal expression while strengthening technical skills and artistic confidence. By the end of the course, students will have a stronger understanding of drawing fundamentals, improved observational skills, and a collection of original artwork that reflects their creative growth.
