About this event
Supply Fee $40 to the instructor Discover the beauty of natural dyeing in this hands-on textile arts class exploring the fascinating process of Eco Dyeing and Nature Printing. Using leaves, flowers, onion skins, and other plant-based materials—including some foraged from the Monthaven grounds—students will create one-of-a-kind patterns and colors on fabric using the power of steam. Through demonstrations and guided instruction, participants will learn two natural dyeing techniques while experimenting with composition, fabric preparation, and plant selection. Beginners will receive step-by-step guidance, while experienced fiber artists are encouraged to explore more advanced approaches. Students will create a collection of silk and cotton dye samples, along with an eco-dyed silk scarf and cotton neckerchief to take home. These beautiful textiles can be enjoyed as finished pieces or incorporated into future projects such as quilts, journals, tote bags, or home décor.
