Not everything is as it seems… In Myth-Busting Magic, campers in Grades 6-8 will investigate myths, illusions, and “magical” claims using real science!
Campers will explore concepts from chemistry, physics, psychology, and more as they design experiments, test variables, and analyze evidence. By challenging common myths and uncovering the science behind “magic,” campers will develop strong scientific reasoning and learn how scientists separate fact from fiction. Throughout the program, campers will also have opportunities to learn from UofG STEM mentors, gaining insight into science and the importance of scientific research!
Expect to see: Myth-busting experiments and investigations, exploration of chemistry, physics, and more, hands-on testing and analysis of “magical” claims, and opportunities to learn from and connect with UofG mentors!
Myth-Busting Magic is for youth entering Grades 6, 7 & 8 in September 2026.
Camp will take place Monday-Friday from 9 AM-4 PM. This summer we are offering Extended Care (optional, for an additional flat fee) in which campers can be dropped off starting at 8:10 AM and picked up any time between 4-4:50 PM. You can opt into Extended Care upon registering a camper for a given camp week. Please note that campers in Grade 6 or higher are permitted to be designated for “Self Sign-Out” of themselves and younger siblings. For more information, please visit our website (www.uoguelph.ca/creative-encounters/).
Please do not hesitate to email us at cse@uoguelph.ca if you have any questions and we will get back to you as soon as we can. We are looking forward to another amazing summer of in-person STEM camps!
All of our camps are based out of Albert A. Thornbrough and Richards Building (Engineering Buildings on the U of G’s main campus) unless stated otherwise.
Parents/guardians will be emailed a “Pre-Camp Package” prior to camp with specific pick-up/drop-off locations and further details.
