Instructor: Jane Todd Butcher Skill Level: Beginner, Intermediate Medium: Acrylic Painting Total Class Hours: 12 Description: Artists experienced in other mediums, as well as new artists, will learn to love painting with acrylics--the most versatile of painting mediums! Acrylics have become the favorite pigments of both realistic and abstract painters, thanks to their vibrant colors, fast drying, and "forgiving" nature. Fluid acrylics can look like oil paints or watercolors and can be combined with mixed media on canvas, paper, or other surfaces. By using just three carefully chosen paint colors and learning color mixing, artists will create a full range of colors in their painting. No muddy colors! We will also explore layering and glazing techniques not available with heavy body acrylics, as well as ways to slow drying when needed. All materials will be supplied for those who wish to work on paper. Students who want to use canvas are welcome to bring their own.
