Join us for a delicious Soul Food Class taught by Chef Takeia Lyles. Students will learn Takeia's secrets for making juicy fried chicken, homemade macaroni and cheese and collard greens.
Chef Takeia is a passionate culinary entrepreneur and the proud owner of Labre's Spot, a soul food catering business dedicated to serving comforting, flavorful dishes that bring people together. As a woman-owned and minority-owned business leader, Chef Takeia has built a reputation for creating memorable dining experiences rooted in family traditions and culture. Her menus reflect a commitment to quality ingredients, rich cultural heritage, and food that nourishes both the body and soul. Whether catering intimate gatherings, corporate events, weddings, or community celebrations, Chef Takeia takes pride in delivering delicious food, professional service, and a personal touch that leaves a lasting impression. Through Labre's Spot, she continues to share her passion for cooking, culture and bringing people together one meal at a time.
This is an in-person hands-on class. Participants will work with the chef instructor in our kitchen to prepare the recipes listed in the class description. Everyone will then enjoy these recipes together.
For your safety, we ask all students wear close toed, no slip shoes to this class.
No refunds will be granted for Let’s Cook@Casey programs. A one-time registration transfer is available to a Let’s Cook@Casey class of equal value if the exchange request is submitted in writing to LetsCook@gaithersburgmd.gov no less than 72 hours before the scheduled program time.
