About this event
Three IN-PERSON Sessions June 2, 9, 16 This course is based on a publication produced by the University of California Press. Quoting from the introduction to the article, “We maintain that humanity’s grand challenge is solving the intertwined problems of human population growth and over-consumption, climate change, pollution, ecosystem destruction, disease spillovers, and extinction, in order to avoid environmental tipping points that would make human life more difficult and would irrevocably damage planetary life support systems.” In the course we will examine the challenges presented as well as the solutions proposed. Science concepts involved will be presented and examined as needed. Frank Lock has been retired since 2009, after teaching secondary chemistry, physics and astronomy for 35 years. He has taught BULLI courses since 2017 and is thankful to have the opportunity to be a BULLI instructor. He was recognized as 2005 Teacher of the Year in Charlotte County, FL. He has been a Climate Reality Project Leader since 2019. Frank uses Active Learning strategies to involve BULLI participants in his classes.
