About this event
Three IN-PERSON Sessions June 1, 8, 15 Where did the unknown author of the gospel called Mark get his information, particularly about the last days of Jesus' life? Emerging about 40 years after the crucifixion of Jesus, almost certainly no eyewitnesses remained alive with whom “Mark” could consult. Burgeoning scholarship offers important clues with the discovery of the Gospel of Peter, dating maybe from the 40s CE. In addition, did Mark have access to the apostle Paul’s letters that chronologically provide the earliest mention of the Lord’s Supper, the crucifixion and the resurrection? In the study of the “Six Easters,” Dr. Bob Maddox will lead the group to open history’s curtain and reveal more of the drama that produced the Church and Christianity. Bob Maddox is a minister, author and former speechwriter for President Jimmy Carter. He holds degrees from Baylor University, Southwestern Seminary and Emory University. For forty years he has focused on the development of the first three hundred years of Christianity. He is the author of nine books four of which deal with early Christianity. Bob and his wife Linda live at Phoenix on Lake Lanier in Gainesville.
