This course is structured to develop your skills in both sketch comedy writing and improvisation. Each week focuses on creating original sketch comedy scenes derived from improvised material performed in class. You will learn the core principles of sketch comedy, the different forms, how to generate and refine ideas, and how to properly format and structure your sketches. The course explores comedic “games,” escalation techniques, and effective ways to deliver satisfying payoffs. You will write both individually and collaboratively, receiving constructive feedback on your work in every session.

This is an intermediate-level class. To register, students should have prior improv or acting experience.
