Learn how to trace the history of your property! In this workshop, The Brown Homestead's team of local historians and researchers will provide participants with basic hands-on knowledge and resources to conduct historical research of properties in Ontario. Content includes an overview of Ontario’s land registry system and structure, best practices for using the OnLand database, and instructions for how to trace the history of any given parcel of land from its Crown patent back to the present time, using the abstracts and documents stored digitally in the provincial land registry's database. All participants will receive detailed teaching from live instructors, along with take-home worksheets and resources.
