What Causes Menstrual Cramps?

Too Much Vitamin D

Many experts say you need to take a very high dose of vitamin D, but higher doses of vitamin D actually have the ability to pull calcium out of the tissues and hold that calcium in the bloodstream.

Signs of a Rough Cycle

There are some physiological signs that can let you know a rough cycle may be coming before it shows up.

  • Charley Horses or cramps in your calves or feet
  • Cold Sores
  • Frequent colds
  • Low blood pressure (below 110/78)

Insufficient digestion is often a major factor behind these signals. The signs of digestive distress are so common that most of us think, "Everybody passes gas or feels bloated, what's the big deal?" The big deal is that these are strong signs that you're not properly pulling all of the nutrients out of the foods you're eating. This can lead to deficiencies in the long run, but can lead to a lack of resources right away.

Signs you can look for that could indicate digestive issues:

  • Burping or bloating
  • Gas
  • Constipation
  • Chronic Diarrhea
  • Nausea
  • Acid Reflux
  • Indigestion
  • Weight Gain
  • Bad Breath

If you deal with one or more of these issues, improving your digestion could greatly reduce the cramps you're dealing with by allowing more calcium and other minerals to be available at the tissue level. Many believe that in order to improve digestion, fiber or probiotics should be used.

Though these can be helpful tools, these products do nothing to improve the foundation of digestion; stomach acid production and bile flow. If bile from the liver is not flowing properly or the stomach is not making enough acid, you can't break down your food correctly and pull out all the nutrients. To improve these facets of digestion, many will supplement with beet green products and HCL.

If you improve digestion, you may be able to utilize more nutrients from the food you're eating. Giving your body more of the resources it needs to complete your menstrual cycle can make for a much more pleasant monthly experience.
