It began as an outdoor boot camp program for eight moms and their kids at a local park.

Thanks to the vision of Jessica Griffin, it developed into much more.

Griffin is the owner and creator of NJ Fit Training and NJ Fit Mom, two northwest New Jersey-based programs that provide personal training, group training, challenges, fundraisers and more. Both programs are part of a spirited local community that focuses on functional movement, because they believe it "contributes to a lifetime of health and wellness."

For her dedication to creating a healthier community, Griffin is ACTIVE's Personal Trainer of the Month for February 2016.

Education and Certifications

Over the years, Griffin has spent countless hours influencing clients as a personal trainer and coach. Here are five health tips she preaches daily.

1. Invest In Your Health

Griffin recommends putting money into improving yourself rather than acquiring unnecessary accessories.

"Your body will be around a lot longer than that handbag," she says.

2. Make the Time

Schedule your workouts on your calendar each week and make it non-negotiable.

"You will never find the time," Griffin says. "You have to make it. You don't cancel on the important people in your life, so don't cancel on yourself."
