Led by Lala Simpson, Patty Cuyler & Brendan Taaffe. A 16-day lstudy-performance camp traveling and performing in the North Island of New Zealand. Tucked away in the heart of the stunning Wairarapa, the Magnificat Retreat Centre—where we will spend our first week—offers a calm sanctuary surrounded by the Rimutaka hills. Lake Wairarapa is the gateway to the wild stretch of cliffs, rocks and water that is Palliser Bay, one of the region’s highlights with an historic lighthouse, native fur seals and the Putangirua Pinnacles, which provided an eerie backdrop in Sir Peter Jackson’s The Return of the King movie. We will spend our first week rehearsing in this beautiful venue as well as visiting some of the surrounding attractions and singing in some truly spectacular places. Music will include Malagasy, Maori, American, South African and other genres.
