About this event
All Levels | TBD Materials and Studio Fees* Champlevé is a specialized process whereby the artist inlays and fires enamels into recessed areas of a metal surface. Utilizing the saw and solder champlevé method, begin by piercing a design with a jeweler's saw in metal, then solder this design onto a secondary metal background creating a field of recessed cells. Learn fundamental champlevé processes including depletion gilding, applying metallic foils, wet packing and firing the glass in a kiln. Through color theory, layering, and blending of the enamel layers, participants will create the illusion of depth within their enamel pieces. All levels welcome. *Materials and studio fees are charged to students based on studio usage and materials Touchstone is providing at the request of the instructor. Additionally, some instructors may also require that you bring certain materials and tools with you, in which case a list will be provided. Final cost of these fees will be posted at least two weeks ahead of the workshop to be paid in full prior to check-in.
