Ready to add a little swing to your step? Join EPRD for a lively and welcoming Jazz Dance Class series with Melissa Trader just in time for the Evergreen Jazz Festival!
EPRD's Active Adult Programs is excited to announce a series of Jazz Dance Classes taught by the talented and renowned instructor Melissa Trader! Whether you're brand new to dance or looking to get your feet moving again, these classes are designed with you in mind-fun, low pressure, and full of great jazz and swing music.
Lessons will focus on learning popular Jitter bug solo and partner moves. Participants will also dive into Frankie Manning's rendition of the "Shim Sham Shimmy," a vernacular jazz line dance that is quite popular at any swing dance event. Bring a partner or come solo, no prior jazz dance experience necessary! Class participants who are interested will be invited to join Melissa and her crew as they perform at the Evergreen Jazz Festival at the end of July this summer!
For all participants, please wear comfortable clothes that are fun and easy to dance in. Shoes with a suede or leather sole are best but ked style boat shoes will work as well. And as always, please bring water and personal refreshments to stay hydrated!
Participants of all ages and experience are welcome! Registration is required to attend each of these events individually (series of 3 classes, registration for each event). Each session will take place at the Buchanan Park Recreation Center in the Bergen Peak Room and will take place from 2-3:30pm on their respective dates (July 2, 9, 23rd).
