About this event
Game Makers: Build Your Own Games What if kids could go from playing games to building their own? In this exciting week, young creators will step into the role of game designers as they bring their own ideas to life through both digital and real-world games. From coding interactive games on the computer to building board games and arcade-style challenges, this program blends creativity, engineering, and problem-solving into one unforgettable experience. Campers will design game characters, invent rules, create challenges, and build complete games from scratch. They’ll explore how games work—from movement and controls to scoring, levels, and strategy—and apply these ideas across both digital and physical builds. Throughout the week, students will: • Create interactive mini digital games with movement, scoring, and challenges • Design and build their own board games with unique rules and themes • Construct fun, hands-on arcade-style games using simple materials • Experiment, test, improve, and refine their creations like real game designers Every idea is tested, improved, and brought to life through hands-on building. By the end of the week, campers will walk away with a collection of original games they’ve designed themselves—both digital and physical—and a whole new way of seeing the games they play every day. Build it. Play it. Level it up. Let the games begin! At TinkerOn, learning happens through building; and ideas turn into real creations. Please Note: Younger campers will be organized into age-based groups for appropriate activities, and supervision is provided for all students during lunch (students should bring their own).
