Shirley Groody is the kind of artist who makes you believe you can paint that. She’s been teaching with adult education for many years and is a much-loved part of the PVAEC family. With her mix of creativity, encouragement, and a great sense of humor, Shirley makes every class feel welcoming and fun. No experience needed, just a willingness to try something new! All supplies are included but feel free to bring your own paintbrushes. You’ve painted the mini barn quilts, now it’s time to show them off! If you’ve taken our popular barn quilt classes, you likely have a beautiful, growing collection of 12x12” panels. This brilliant new workshop is the perfect way to display your hard work all year round. In this class, you’ll paint a gorgeous, large 12” x 24” wooden display sign (1/2” thick) featuring classic folk-art detailing, whimsical hand-painted checkered borders, and “Welcome” lettering. The magic is in the design: the center of the sign features a specially built-in recessed lip, allowing you to easily slip any of your 12x12” mini barn quilt boards in and out. No mini barn quilts yet? No problem! This sign is a gorgeous standalone piece, and you can sign up for our companion painting classes to start building your seasonal collection. All supplies are included. Beginner and experienced painters are equally welcome! At the end of the registration, a pop up will appear for something called Active Advantage.
