Join us for the Pictured Rocks Backpack Trip in the UP!

Achievers lead indoors and outdoors!

Welcome to the application for the July 2026 Bold & Gold backpacking trip. The expenses for this trip are covered by a Ralph C. Wilson scholarship. Are you excited about gaining hands-on leadership experience in the outdoors?

The first step on the Bold & Gold journey is to complete this application.

The Interview Process to get to know you!

A Phone Call or Zoom interview will be scheduled to see if this trip is a fit for you.

You will be contacted by a staff member regarding your acceptance to attend the trip.

For those selected there will be a mandatory, in-person orientation that parents and youth are required to attend in preparation for the trip.

What to expect on the trip

Sunday – 8:00am pickup, drive to the UP, overnight at a state park or forest campground.

Monday – Backpacking Lessons: Start at Little Beaver Lake trailhead, camp at Lowney Creek Groupsite.

Tuesday – On the Trail: Hike to Trappers Lake Groupsite.

Wednesday – On the Trail: Hike to Sevenmile Groupsite.

Thursday – Layover: Basecamp day at Sevenmile Groupsite

Friday – Depart for Home: Shuttle back to the bus. Return to Detroit ETA between 5 PM and 6 PM.
