About this event
This summer, students will learn through real-world experiences, hands-on projects, and outdoor exploration in a supportive small-group setting. Groups of 2–4 students will meet in and around Denver to build academic confidence, strengthen executive functioning, and practice social skills through meaningful activities and shared adventures. We’ll spend time exploring nature at City Park and Cheesman Park, learning ecology through observation and inquiry. Our field-based learning will also include visits to the Denver Zoo, Denver Museum of Nature & Science, and Denver Botanic Gardens, where students will deepen their understanding of the natural world through guided exploration, discussion, and journaling. Students will also build civic knowledge and community awareness through visits to the Colorado State Capitol and the Judicial Building, connecting local government to real life in a way that’s engaging and memorable. Each session includes: - Nature-based learning and ecology exploration - Executive functioning support (planning, organization, follow-through) - Social skills practice through collaboration and group routines - Project-based learning and journaling - Active, confidence-building experiences such as rock climbing This program is ideal for students who learn best through movement, conversation, hands-on activities, and real-life connections.
