Explore More: Outdoor Skills & Adventure Camp (Grades 6-12) Instructor: Daniel Dupont Assistant Instructor: Andrew Bustamante Week 3 20-24 July Full Day (9AM - 4PM) Get outside, explore, and learn skills that open the door to adventure. This camp is for youth in grades 6-12 who love nature and want to build confidence, competence, and leadership outdoors - no previous experience required. Campers will be guided on an initial local hike with all planning and skills modelled, then learn the tools to co-plan and co-lead a more challenging hike together. Schedule includes: Tuesday - Bus trip to Iona Jetty for hike Thursday - Bus trip to Golden Ears Park for hike Campers will develop essential outdoor and camping skills, including trip planning, the 10 Essentials, navigation using compass and apps (online and offline), knot tying, tarp configurations, tent setup, water safety and filtration, fire-making with and without a ferro rod, camp stove use, food and packing strategies, and animal safety. Campers will create detailed digital trip plans that consider key safety and logistics so outings are well-prepared, enjoyable, and stress-free, then document their experiences through reflective, travel-style blogs enhanced with nature photography. This unforgettable experience is all inclusive of transportation and outdoor equipment costs. A list of personal equipment and preparation will be shared after registration.
